Clinical Observation - Use of Pupillo in Cataract Surgery

We have used Pupillo in all cataract cases preoperatively, starting from the first instillation of the mydriatic drop.

A total of 50 patients have been evaluated so far.

Our observations:
As we believe - If you see well, you perform well.

1. It helps in maintaining adequate pupil size till the end of the surgical procedure, which significantly improves visualization and safety.
2. We have also observed in 3 cases ..that it helps in dilation of small pupils by an additional 0.5 to 0.75 mm and sustains that dilatation, which is a great boon for the surgeon to complete the surgery safely.

Our study is ongoing to evaluate other potential benefits of Pupillo..

I have been using pupillo prior to cataract surgery. In most of the cases I find additional dilatation of pupil which is around 0.65mm more in diameter. This helps in good visualisation of anterior capsule during surgery and helps in proper scraping of the cells at the back of anterior capsule. In most of the cases PUPILLO prevents intra operative miosis. Proper visualisation of surgical field minimises the complications.

I've used pupillo in all my Cataract Cases. I find that the dilatation is wider with the device than without it. It is also well sustained intra-operatively. Whenever I have found Pupil going down during surgery, I discovered that

1. The staff missed using Pupillo!
2. Patient closed eyes as with drops
3. Pupillo battery needs replacing.

So dependable is the Pupillo effect.

I have been using Pupillo - new ,innovative pupil dilating device for all my cases total of 150 cases my observation

1. sustained pupillary dilatation hence ease of doing surgery till the end
2. getting the pupil dilated more than 1 mm over & above pharmacological dilation
3. consistent results
4. need of iris hooks or pupillary expansion devices has reduced & I have not used them in any of my cases after I have started using Pupillo

overall our ease of doing surgeies has increased & am very happy using Pupillo
